NOTE:  Fire 10 x 12 with Front Screen Door, side windows and back window. Different features than standard wilderness tent.  See photos below.

THE 10 X 12 FIRE TREATED TENT WITH FRONT SCREEN DOOR HAS THE FOLLOWING MODIFICATIONS TO OUR STANDARD WILDERNESS TENTS.

Photos of modifications are at top of page in photo section of our standard wilderness tents. Modification photos are at the end.

Front door has an inverted /upside down T door zipper. This allows one side of the door to open while the other side remains totally closed. In this manner, the tent sod cloth stays in place on both sides of the door.  Especially beneficial if a stake in floor is used.  Water and bugs cannot enter under the front of the tent as the sod cloth  remains in place when the tent doors are open.

No vinyl corners. Reinforced canvas corners.

Adjustable heavy straps instead of stake loops around the bottom of the tent.  Adjustable straps allow tightening the stake loop as necessary instead of repositioning the stake.  Adjustable straps are very beneficial if tent is to be used on a platform.  If requested, we will provide corresponding buckles to secure tent to platform.

Storm flap door buckles are metal with adjustable straps to secure storm storm flap.  It should be noted that the storm flap is a free feature that protects the door zipper from rain and ice.

Back window is a 35" triangle with screen.

Glamping canvas wall tents are the same tent models we also sell sell as hunting tents, hot tents and winter tents. Our wilderness tent is very high quality and the most reinforced canvas wall tent available. That is why we use it on all canvas tent models.

WILDERNESS TENTS ARE THE TOUGHEST AND STRONGEST TENTS AVAILABLE.
Double layer of canvas on ridge. Eaves reinforced with webbing. Steel D rings on eaves instead of grommets. NO OTHER TENT HAS THIS ADDITIONAL REINFORCEMENT.

NO SALES TAX.  Items shipped to an IDAHO address must pay Idaho sales tax.

STANDARD FEATURES

5 FOOT SIDE WALLS. WALLS ARE FULL 5' OF CANVAS.

Walls are measured from the outside of tent.

  • FREE STORM FLAP. Protects zipper and closes door if you have zipper problems when camping.

  • FREE BACK WINDOW OR BACK DOOR. A $50 option for some tent companies.

  • FREE REINFORCED EAVE WITH WEBBING ENTIRE LENGTH OF EAVE.

  • FREE D RINGS SEWN INTO EAVE WEBBING. Much stronger than grommets pressed into canvas.

  • RIDGE OPENINGS FOR LODGE POLE. Some hunters use lodge pole pine to make a tent frame when packing in to avoid hauling a heavy metal frame on horses.

  • FRONT ZIPPERED DOOR, YKK #10. Always insure your tent has YKK zippers or you might have zipper problems when you are camping.

  • 200' OF ROPE AND 20 TENSIONERS that tightens the tent eave rope connecting to tent stakes.

WILDERNESS CANVAS IS ARMY DUCK- DOUBLE FILL. The highest quality canvas made. Canvas is made by weaving threads together, crosswise and lengthwise. The Army Duck canvas has 2 threads twisted together making 1 thread. These double twisted threads are woven into the canvas going both crosswise and lengthwise. Twisting 2 threads together into 1 makes Army Duck canvas stronger more durable and also allows the canvas to breath better.  A 10.1 oz Army Duck wall tents are just as strong as a 12 oz Dual Fill.
FRAMES CANNOT BE RETURNED OR REFUNDED as each custom frame is made for a specific tent.

Be advised that  competitor frames that use cables are much weaker than normal frames.  Cables are only used on frames that are not strong. Frames that have 3/4" conduit or thin walled aluminum frames normally have cables.

6'  SIDE WALL OPTION

6' side walls provide much more headroom and usable tent space.  6' walls allows a person to get next to a wall without hitting your head against rafters or canvas roof.

Some companies only have 4' 7" sidewalls which severely restricts how much space you can actually use.

Strongly recommend you ask your suppliers the finished height of side walls before purchasing so you will not be surprised or disappointed upon delivery.

6 Foot option only available on FIRE, water and mildew treated tents

FIRE RESISTANT CANVAS: Meets CPAI 84 fire retardant code. If a tent is not specifically treated for fire resistance it will burn quickly. Fire Resistant canvas will only burn when there is a flame source present on the canvas. When you remove the flame source the wall tent will stop burning. However, there is no wall tent made that will not burn.

DISCOUNTED ACCESSORIES

We have certain discounted accessories when you order a Wilderness tent or Selkirk spike tent. We are passing the reduced shipping cost to you.
5" Inline spark arrestor $50 (-$22), stove fire mat $35 (-$15), stove heat shield $35 (-$15), rubber caps for frame legs (-$10 per set ), tent frame bags $28 (-$10), tent coat hangars $35 (-$10), and rebar stakes (-$10) per dozen.

THE FRAME IS DESIGNED NOT TO FIT TIGHT ON YOUR FRAME TO ALLOW FOR TENT CANVAS SHRINKAGE. All tent canvas will shrink 1-3 % after it becomes wet.

If you want your tent to have a tighter tent on the frame, set your tent up and spray it down with water inside and out, especially on the seams. The seams have small needle holes which will close when sprayed with water.

If you are not concerned about a slightly loose tent, the tent will naturally shrink overtime as a result of dew and condensation.

Never have a skin tight tent on a frame. When a tent is skin tight on a frame there is tremendous pressure on the seams. Eventually the seams will loosen or tear. Same process as when a person wears extremely skin tight jeans.

FLY IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

Fly is a protective tarp that covers the roof, extend the life expectancy of your tent. Also, there are thousands of needle holes in your tent and occasionally a needle hole does not close when the tent is wetted down. The only way to insure your tent does not leak is to put a fly on your tent.

I price my fly's approximately 25-50% below most of my competitors to encourage individuals to use a fly to protect their tent roof.

EVERY MONTH WE GET CALLS FROM CUSTOMERS WHO BUY A FLY AFTER USING THEIR TENT. Normally customers have spark holes in their tent roof. Or dirt, pitch and tar on their roof that won't come off. A fly is strongly recommend at the time of purchase to avoid possible roof issues. And most importantly, to increase life expectancy of your tent. Rich

FLY ADVANTAGES- SUMMARY

SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE LIFE OF YOUR TENT. The roof is the first part of a tent that normally fails.

Prevents stove spark burn holes in roof. It is much easier and cheaper to replace a fly, if necessary, than a tent.

Provides another moisture barrier to prevent leaks.

Protects the cotton canvas from harmful UV rays. Put a cotton shirt outside during the summer and see how UV rays destroys the cotton.

Keeps roof clean. When camping under a tree, a tree rains down dirt during rain storms.

Prevents pitch and tar getting on the roof. Removing tree pitch and tar requires a harsh detergent which destroys the roof water, mildew and fire treatment. Then you will have leaks in your roof.

Fly provides 1 foot overhang on each side of tent.  Forces water and snow 1 foot away from side wall.

Water and snow slides off fly quicker than canvas roof as the fly is completely smooth.

Provides some insulation value when there is an air gap between fly and roof.

RECOMMENDATION: ALWAYS KEEP YOUR TENT ROOF AND FLY TAUT SO WATER CAN QUICKLY BE REMOVED FROM YOUR TENT.  Water can collect on the roof in an "eave trough" which is  a low area just before the sidewall created by a not tight roof or loose fly.

Canvas should be very taut on a tent frame, especially, if set up for extended periods of time and a fly always used.  Fly should also be tight to avoid water in an eave trough.  Water will eventually go through the fly if saturated for weeks.  Canvas saturated in water will rot and mildew regardless of water mildew protection applied. There is no warranty for eave rot.

When you receive your tent, set it up, and completely wet it down. Especially on the seams, both inside and outside seams on your tent. Wetting down your tent will cause the canvas to shrink and help close the thousands of needle holes in your tent.

Click SLEEPING CAPACITY for each size of tent. It is sometimes difficult to determine the correct size required and hopefully sleeping capacity info page will be of some assistance.

WILDERNESS TENT AND ANGLE KIT special includes the tent and either a 3 rafter, 4 rafter or 5 rafter angle kit depending upon size of tent ordered.

Making a tent frame using steel conduit takes 60-90 minutes depending on size of your tent. Steel conduit is readily available at all hardware stores including Home Depot and Lowes.  Only tool required is a hack saw or pipe cutter.  All power tools that cut metal will also work.

Click ANGLE KITS for information on how to easily build a tent frame 6 from steel conduit.

TENTS ON PLATFORMS

I strongly recommend you read my recommendations regarding placing wall tents on a platform, click platforms.

I strongly recommend (click) tent frame leg supports on platforms. which are screwed onto the platform. Wood platforms are smooth surfaces compared to the ground. You don't want to have tent frame legs slide off a platform during high winds.

Leaving a tent set up for extended periods of time. Water can collect on the roof in an "eave trough".  The trough is the area at the bottom of roof just before the side horizontal tent frame poles. Canvas should be very tight on frame if set up for extended periods of time and a fly used.  Fly should also be tight to avoid water and snow in an eave trough.  Canvas saturated in water will rot and mildew regardless of water mildew protection applied. There is no warranty for eave rot.

TESTIMONIALS

Calling back to give you an update on my wilderness glamping package I purchased.  Couldn't be happier.  Camping went great even though we suffered through a lot of rain.  No leaks like my previous tent.  We all stayed warm and dry.  Much appreciated . I am glad you recommended the larger stove.  The Yukon 5 kept our 14 x 16 warm all night.  The fly did its job.  Rain easily slid off fly.  All in all, a great trip. Jimmy

Just received my gear and it is high quality.  The wilderness is really well made.  I ripped out my eave grommets on my last tent during strong winds.  The steel Dee rings on my new wilderness is a much better system.   I had never never seen webbing on the eaves before. Webbing on the eaves is a big improvement.  Totally impressed with the wilderness stove.  Reinforcement bars are a big plus.  Cured the stove like you recommended outside the tent.  Curing the stove inside the tent would have been a total disaster with the smoke and burning paint smell.  Thanks again for all your help and recommendations.  Lionel

I bought 3 tents from you last year for my business. Your tents are exceptionally well made and I need tough tents like yours. I want three more 14 x 16 tents. Additionally, this fall I will be ordering another 3. Thanks again. Al

It works to divide a room, but it's not easy to use.
Color: Grey, Size: 6 Panel
This comes in multiple pieces and you have to build every single piece including the cloth that is between the two poles. There are plastic clips to hold the sections together, but they easily come off if you move the dividers the wrong way or try to reposition it. The only thing holding it up is rectangular shaped feet on the bottom and they are a pain when you hit it with your toes. It works if you need to divide a room, but its not pretty and there are far better options. It's cheaply made and has a habit of falling down if you are trying to use it in a straight or slightly angled line.

Nice divider. Set up is a bear. I am a bit concerned with stability. Overall I like it.

Great privacy room divider
Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel, Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel
I got this room divider for our game room that shares the garage/laundry room, to separate the spaces. I was happy that it was relatively easy to put together in less than an hour with nothing more than a screwdriver (provided) although I used a small handheld drill. The instructions were pretty straightforward and easy to understand as everything was labeled. I have 2 small grandkids at home running around while I put this together so my timeline to completion might be longer than others. It recommends 2 people to assemble, but I was able to complete alone in about 40 minutes total and as I said I used a small handheld drill, (although it does come with a small Philips screwdriver) which is the only tool you need for assembly. The first two panels took me about 20 minutes but the other 4 were simple repeats after the initial 2. After all 6 panels were assembled the plastic clips to piece them together were literally a "SNAP" to put on. The poles are made of metal and the panels are made of a very sturdy almost canvas like fabric. When held up to the light not a lot shined through so very good for privacy. You can snap them together in sections and have 2 separate panels of 3 or what ever configuration you want. They are easy to move and bend around furniture or other obstacles, also fold flat together if you need to put them aside for storage. This worked out just as we had planned, very easy to move around when needed and I am very happy with this product. I loved how simple it was to put together, easy instructions, and the durability and functionality of it.

Decent for the price. Instructions suck but most people should be able to figure it out. More below.
Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel, Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel
SUMMARY: 3 stars from me because it's firmly average. It's fine for the price. Assembly and materials are alright but I can see some caveats depending on your circumstances. Assembly instructions do a subpar job of pointing out some details. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS: Maybe it's because I'm autistic and/or building model kits and assembling stuff is my jam, but I honestly thought people were exaggerating when they were complaining about the instructions and I'd be able to flex my ~superior assembly skills.~ I was wrong! These instructions genuinely suck, and whoever is responsible for making them should be ashamed. The instructions do a poor job of calling out some details regarding orientation of parts, and some of the images do not actually match the physical parts. For example, it does not really outline the assembly of the end panels clearly, and I can see someone accidentally using the wrong poles. I've drawn over a photo to show what you should do to try and make it clearer. Additionally, the manual shows a flathead screw for bolting the feet into position, but the actual screw is not a flathead. It also does not point out the counterbore, so if you aren't paying attention you may put the foot pads onto the wrong side of the foot. It's also missing the fact that you need to use another one of the plastic pieces when you finish assembling a panel. ACTUAL ASSEMBLY & MATERIALS: To their credit, all of my bags were clearly labeled. The assembly process wasn't difficult. It's mostly just tedious and requires a fair amount of space. I was able to assemble it by myself without any real difficulty. However, the way it's assembled means two things. One, the fabric parts aren't removable without disassembly. So if you want to use this in an environment where they would require cleaning, I would seriously recommend looking for another option. Or, you could buy this just to use the frame pieces and then somehow buy or make your own fabric pieces designed to be removable with velcro or something. Two, because of the materials I really don't have a lot of faith in this thing surviving disassembly and reassembly. Like a lot of sorta-cheap-but-convenient furniture, it uses those spring-button connections and plastic inserts with self-tapping screws. Those things are not really meant to be disassembled and rethreaded. It also relies a lot on the tension of the poles and the fabric to keep everything rigid and squared, which I think puts a lot of pressure on the aforementioned buttons, plastic inserts, and the hollow metal rods. So I feel like that will also cause issues with disassembly and reassembly. Basically once this thing is assembled, it's not really meant to be disassembled. The best you can do is spot-clean the fabric if you need to. Speaking of the fabric, I didn't see any labels on them or anything in the manual that says what they are, but they feel like some kind of polyester. They generate static electricity pretty easily, and pet hair and debris sticks easily. So that's another downside of them not being easily removable. For the most part it does seem pretty stable. The poles seem to be pretty uniform in length so they're all making contact with my floor. Obviously this isn't structural so it shouldn't be supporting anything, but the two main feet seem to be doing fine with keeping this thing upright. CLOSING THOUGHTS: Really, it's fine for what it is, but it could be better in a lot of little ways and the substandard quality of the instructions just seems unprofessional to me, which is why I'm being so harsh with my rating. Depending on your needs and environment you may want to consider a different option. Preferably one that is made to be disassembled with better materials, and/or one with fabric pieces made to be removed easily.
